SEE Psychology & Wellbeing

Psychological assessment, coaching and therapy for adults

Welcome to SEE Psychology & Wellbeing

A team of neuro-affirming practitioners offering assessments for Specific Learning Difficulties and Neurodevelopmental Conditions, and coaching, counselling and psychotherapy for adults online (via Zoom or MS Teams).

Welcome

The practioners at SEE Psychology and Wellbeing have a combined experience of over 22 years working in the fields of psychology, counselling, psychotherapy, addiction, and educational psychological assessment and coaching.

We have deep understanding of neurodiversity, and extensive expertise in assessing adults for specific learning difficulties and neurodevelopmental conditions. We also offer counselling and coaching to our neurodivergent clients to help them live authentically and to navigate the imapct of receiving a diagnosis, sometimes later in life. Some members of our team are neurodivergent themselves and our service has been developed to ensure that all of our clients feel welcomed and safe.

We also have substantial experience working with people to help them manage their mental health, drawing on various counselling and psychotherapetic models (including humanistic, integrative, psychoanalytic, and cognitive behavioural approaches). We help our clients manage the uncertainty of change and develop new skills and coping strategies to adapt to a new way of thinking and behaving.

Our Areas of Expertise

Assessment for Specific Learning Difficulties and Neurodevelopmental Conditions

We offer assessment for specific learning difficulties and associated neurocognitive conditions, including (but not limited to): dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, dyspraxia (developmental coordination disorder), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and autism (ASC). We also offer coaching and counselling to our neurodivergent clients to help them live authentically.

Within a neuro-affirming framework, we use highly specialised tests to identify cognitive strengths and difficulties, combined with extensive clinical interviewing to help our clients understand their unique neurodivergent perspective. We provide a detailed diagnostic report with recommendations for support which can be tailored to client needs whether that be in primary, secondary or higher education, or in an occupational context. The reports are accepted as evidence for applications for the disability student allowance (DSA).

Coaching, Counselling & Psychotherapy

We offer coaching, counselling and psychotherapy on a short-term or long-term basis. These different approches can help our clients to understand themselves within the world, and to identify any changes they may wish to make. Our approach is collaborative and client-led because we believe that our clients are experts when it comes to their own lived experience. We are a neurodiverse team and our clients reflect this. We work with the client in front of us without judgement or preconceived notions. We approach every session with open minds, curiosity, and generosity of spirit.

We are skilled in humanistic, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural models, and situate our own practice within the existential paradigm. We take a person-centred approach and work with each of our clients’ individual needs and goals to formulate an appropriate treatment plan. Our goal is never to 'fix' our clients because we do not believe they are broken.

How We Work

We provide a high-quality, professional, friendly, and relaxed service. We are fully qualified, accredited, and registered to provide the services detailed on our website. We adhere to a strict code of ethics and are fully compliant with Data Protection guidelines.

We understand that psychological support of any kind can be an intimidating process to start. We are happy to discuss all avenues of support before any financial commitment is made to help find the best possible way forward for you.

We use Zoom and MS Teams for most of our sessions which means that we can help anyone in the UK. Through client feedback, we have found this mode of working suits most clients because they don’t have to worry about time and cost associated with transport, and they feel less nervous as they can access our support from the comfort of their own homes.
